History
Tout commence en 2002, lorsqu’un groupe d’amis étudiants de l’Université de Cocody se rendent compte du taux de prévalence IST/VIH élevé en milieu estudiantin. Sur 169 étudiants reçus par le laboratoire du centre médical de l’Université de Cocody, 31% étaient séropositifs et 86% avaient une IST. En réaction à cette situation alarmante, Ce groupe d’amis universitaires décide alors de créer une organisation à base communautaire dénommée ONG MESSI,(Mouvement Estudiantin) pour la Sensibilisation sur le Sida) et trouve des partenaires internationaux et locaux pour les appuyer dans l’atteinte de leur objectif, à savoir contribuer à la réduction de ce taux de Prévalence en cité universitaire. Des sections annexes sont ouvertes dans toutes les résidences universitaires d’Abidjan. Des activités ponctuelles telles que des centres d’écoute, des activités de prévention, promotion et Offre de conseils et dépistage volontaire. Son efficacité sur le terrain et les bons résultats obtenus, ont prévalu en 2013, à l’ONG MESSI d’être le lauréat de la meilleure « ONG-JEUNE » lors des awards de la lutte du VIH/sida. En 2017, pour amplifier leur impact sur le terrain, le « mouvement » devient Mission des Jeunes pour l’éducation, la santé, la solidarité et l’inclusion (MESSI).
It all began in 2002, when a group of student friends from the University of Cocody became aware of the high STI/HIV prevalence rate in the student community. Of the 169 students seen by the laboratory at the University of Cocody Medical Center, 31% were HIV positive and 86% had an STI. In response to this alarming situation, this group of university friends then decided to create a community-based organization called the NGO MESSI (Student Movement for AIDS Awareness) and found international and local partners to support them in achieving their goal, namely to contribute to reducing this prevalence rate in university residences. Annex sections are open in all university residences in Abidjan. One-off activities such as listening centers, prevention activities, promotion and voluntary counseling and testing. Its effectiveness on the ground and the ood results obtained, prevailed in 2013, for the NGO MESSI to be the winner of the best "YOUTH NGO" at the awards for the fight against HIV/AIDS. In 2017, to amplify its impact on the ground, the "movement" became the Youth Mission for Education, Health, Solidarity and Inclusion (MESSI).
